Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone!!!! Instead of sharing wedding tips and ideas today, I am going to share with you one of my favorite memories from our wedding reception..... our first dance :)
Edward and I had an absolutely fun time preparing for this. Yes, my hubby did enjoy our dance practices! We started by going taking three dance classes to learn the basic dance steps. We hadn't even finalized our song at the time but we just needed some help in general. They helped! Plus they were a Christmas gift from my parents so we were happy :)
I really wanted to dance to a huge song... like "When You Say You Love Me" by Josh Groban or something on that level. Problem. That was an absolute no go for Edward. After a lot of talk, we choose "It Had To Be You" by Harry Connick Jr. It was absolutely the perfect song for us. The lyrics are perfect and the song is so sweet but also very fun. We knew that the HCJ version would be perfect for what we had in mind.
We took our knowledge of basic dance steps and then went to YouTube for ideas. The intro to our dance we found from another wedding video on-line. However the majority of the dance we choreographed on our own! We started with a big intro, then a slow first half, ending with a bang! We had so much dancing for hours and days. Edward said the last thing he wanted to do was to be nervous during our first dance about forgetting his next step. By the time "showtime" came around, we didn't even have to think about what we were going to do next which made the experience that much more enjoyable.
We definitely wanted our guests to enjoy watching our dance. Let it be entertainment for them but also the perfect "first dance" for us. I think we definitely achieved both of those. It was definitely a highlight from the night! We love watching the video and to this day bust out a few moves when our song comes on :)
Below is the video of our first dance! Enjoy!!!!!!
