Best Mardi Gras Food and Drinks

Happy Monday!!!! Today kick's off In The Pink and my Mardi Gras Week!! Mardi Gras celebrations are well underway in the Big Easy but the biggest weekend of the year starts in just 4 days!!! Woohoo!

New Orleans is famous for many things.... including our food!! And what else are we known for doing so well? Drinking of course! So today I am bringing you my top 10 foods to eat during Mardi Season and my top 10 drinks!!

TOP MARDI GRAS FOODS
(In no particular order... except #1 is definitely #1!!)

1. King Cake {From Randazzo's}
This sweet treat is the hallmark of all Mardi Gras food! Out of town? Randazzo's ships!!!

2. Popeyes Fried Chicken
The best (and greasiest) friend chicken around. A must when staked out on a parade route all day!

3. Zapp's Potato Chips
A New Orleans signature snack. The best "munchy" food around!

4. Chicken and Andouille Sausage Jambalaya
Warm, spicy and oh so good! Perfect for eating all day when at parades.
Definitely recommend using Zatarain's mix!

5. Po-Boys {From Parkway Bakery}
Shrimp, roast beef, catfish, oyster, etc.... A must in Louisiana anytime of the year!

6. Crawfish
Crawfish is Louisiana's signature seafood. Don't be shocked when you see crawfish boils set-up on parade routes!

7. Burgers and Loaded Baked Potatoes {From Port of Call}
The. Best. Damn. Burgers. In. The. World. Enough Said. A must when in the French Quarter.

8. Beignets {From Cafe' Du Monde}
Fried dough with powdered sugar.... the ultimate Sunday Breakfast or mid-night snack!
via
9. Muffalettas {From Central Grocery}
Huge and warm... loaded with ham, salami, cheese and olive salad.... so so good!
via
10. Lucky Dog Hot Dog
The best hot dog stand around! Eat while walking and drinking on Bourbon Street... talk about convenience!
via
TOP MARDI GRAS DRINKS
(Once again, in no particular order... except #1 is definitely my favorite drink ever!!)

1. Monsoon {From Port of Call}
My ultimate favorite drink. This massive rum punch is pretty much all you need to keep you going all day. Two of them?? You better find a bench!!

2. Hurricane {From Pat O'Briens}
This sweet deliciousness is loaded with the best of best ingredients. Sit back in the famous Piano Bar at Pat O's and enjoy one... or three!

3. Daiquiris {From Fat Tuesday}
A New Orleans staple. A must. Tons of flavors. Oh so good!!!
via
4. Hand Grenades {From Tropical Isle}
This drink is a little sweet for my taste, but it has become one of the most popular drinks on Bourbon Street. I mean, the container alone shows its appeal!

5. Beer... Lots of Beer
No explanation needed.

6. Boxed Margarita
Delish and easy to carry around when spending all day at parades. One of my "must haves"!!

7. Cajun Bloody Mary
Don't forget to add the Zing Zang! The perfect way to start off your Mardi Gras morning :)

8. Sazerac Cocktail
Definitely a strong drink, not for the weak! But definitely a New Orleans classic.

9. Margartias {from Superior Grill}
The best margarita's in the city. Frozen or on the rocks, you can't go wrong! Plus the atmosphere alone is worth a visit!
via
10. Louisiana Lemonade
Lemonade and vodka, perfect for a warm day at parades! Fill out the canister/pitcher and get going!

When I visited, I may have enjoyed three hand grenades besides all the other amazing drinks. It was a miracle that I made it back to the hotel! I can't wait to visit again. :) Esther Norine Designs

OMG you just made me soooo homesick! I miss all of this so much. I remember my first parade after I moved to GA and they didn't give us anything. I was baffled! Enjoy all this awesomeness!

I haven't been to NO since I turned 21 - I think I was 17 when we went and the delicious cocktails alone seem like a great reason to go back! Can't wait to see what you have in store for the rest of the week!

Ramos Gin Fizz! Ask your bartender to make you one very, very nicely!

this makes me homesick! Especially those crawfish and poboys. Hoping they still have crawfish when I get down to Louisiana in April.

I have been begging my hubby to boil some crawfish soon! He keeps saying wait until after Easter when the price will go down but I just don't know if I can wait that long. Hehe! Great job covering the yummy foods & drinks of NOLA!

I love this post but it also makes me very sad! I miss NOLA oh-so-much and this post just rubbed it in my face. I am obsessed with my glass from Pat O's - definitely use it as a flower vase. We really, really wanted to go to Port of Call but didn't make it there - next time!!
