Rolling In The Deep...

of my mind that is! This little lady has been quite the busy bee lately! I feel like I haven't been able to just sit down and have a good blogging session. You know, the kind where you just let it all out and anything goes? Yes I love hosting giveaways and promoting blogs / products, etc but I feel like that's all I've been doing lately when I actually have time to blog. And I never want my blog to loose that "Mary" feel. So here I am, uncensored.

Let's start with Thanksgiving. Mine was wonderful! And a much needed break. I hope yours was too! This year was a first for me.... as in not spending it with my family! I spent all of Thanksgiving Day with my in-laws and all their extended family that came in town. I love them all so much and we had a blast. But I'm not going to lie... I missed my mama! The last two years, Edward's family has been out of town for Thanksgiving so my family had us all to themselves. This year, we felt it was only fair to be with his side since they were hosting the holiday at their house with all the relatives. Growing up and in-laws and everything is bittersweet at times right? More sweet than bitter... but I just love my family! We have already decided to do Christmas Eve with his family and Christmas Day with mine. Both families were happy and so am I :)

Thanksgiving brings me to celebrating with my brother-in-law his engagement with his sweet fiance!  Alex is Edward's younger brother but they are only two years apart. I just still can't believe he's getting married! That "big sister" in me just can't accept it yet. On the other hand, I love his fiance! Christi was able to spend the weekend with us after Thanksgiving and we had lots of bonding time. They both live in Dallas so we don't get to see them often. I made a point to have some one on one "sister" time with Christi. The first we have had! LOVED it. Most of our time revolved around wedding planning. The date is set for December 28, 2013. We have arranged for me and my mother-in-law to fly to Dallas after Christmas this year to be with Christi to pick out her wedding dress. Very excited and honored to be there! Oh and some other exciting news, she asked me to be a bridesmaid!!! Yay!! This will be my 8th time as a bridesmaid and I couldn't be more thrilled. Seriously, obsessed with weddings.... hence "Wedding Wednesdays".... and my "wedding planner" dreams. (They will come true!)

My brother's engagement brings me to my marriage. Let's face it, I am madly, insanely in love with my husband. And Christmas time makes me that much more giddy. Of course it's a happy time but Christmas was when we first met and started dating. This Christmas marks 7 years of being together! {I'm trying to get my hands on a picture of two of us when we were "young and in love"... they aren't on my new computer but I'll find them and add them!}

Let's change subjects for a minute and just to the XFactor! Yes, I love that show. It's by far my favorite singing contest out there. Sure it has its issues... but what contest show doesn't? My overview of this season.... 1. LA Reid knows his stuff. 2. Britney makes the best faces ever. 3. Demi Lovato is a horrible coach. I hate what she did to Janelle Garcia and blame her for Janelle getting kicked off so early. 4. Simon is ruthless and honest and usually always right. As for my picks? Carly Rose Sonenclare is just phenomenal. I don't think anyone else compares to her vocally. I think that Tate Stevens has such a pure country voice. I think he will go far. And I'm going to be honest here... I am actually very entertained by Emblem 3. There, I said it. Although they seem like a bunch of little (pardon my french...) "douches", according my husband. Wait, let's rephrase that.... the tall, blonde that always has to take off his shirt. The other two get a pass in that department. And the final contestant I'm going to mention is Vino. (Why not anyone else, but I don't think anyone else has a chance at winning or being in the finale.) Oh Vino! So surprised at how much I like you! Not my typical music type but he has the goods. Except last night. It was not his best performance. However it was one of my favorite songs! Vino singing "Lost That Loving Feeling" put a smile on my face. Love that song. (Probably because I love Top Gun and my husband hates it. Which makes me want to sing it more.) **Side note:: At his uncle's wedding this summer, I may or may not have got down on one knee and  serenaded in front of his family to this song during the reception. Alcohol may or may not have been involved.** But back to the song.... Lost That Loving Feeling. Which actually brings me back to marriage AND...

LAW SCHOOL. Law school finals to be exact. They start on Monday and last for two weeks. The night of December 14th can't get here soon enough! Edward is so MIA during the end of the semester. And rightfully so. But I don't want to loose that lovin' feeling!! Especially during this time of year! How do you keep the sparks flying when the husband is so stressed with school?? Well I'll need your help ladies to come up with some ideas on how to keep it SPICY. Yes, I just said that. But we will save that for another post.

And last but not least... law school finals lead my to Christmas! My favorite time of year :) Edward said if he could have it his way, I would wait until after he finishes this semester before I decorate the house. Well I'm sorry dearest but you can't have it your way when it comes to this. He claims that is makes him depressed because he wants to enjoy the season but he's too busy studying. Well law school makes me depressed too and the Christmas season is what makes me happy! Especially decorating my house! I promised him I wouldn't go blaring the music so loud he could hear it behind closed doors. But I am definitely decorating now! And I am getting the tree this week. The tree is with out a doubt, my favorite Christmas tradition.

I need your opinion. I had gotten these shelves from Pottery Barn and I love them. However, Edward said my decorations are too busy and tacky.. do I just ignore him or do you agree? I think maybe he is more so talking about the pillow and the "Let It Snow" sign? (ps - Ignore the empty picture frames! I just got them in!)

I hope to have everything complete by this weekend and then I will share all my Christmas decorations with you! But please wish me luck as I paint this baby this weekend....
I'm going with Old Ochre by ASCP. Everything else in the room is that or ASCP's Old White. I think it's all going to come together really nicely. And once that is complete I can actually put all the Christmas decorations where they are supposed to go.

On that note, I think I've blabbered enough today.... Hope everyone has a good night and most importantly.... GEAUX SAINTS!!!! Beat those dirty birds in Atlanta!!!!

Wedding Wednesday: Ali's Wedding Day!

You probably remember me talking about my best friend's wedding once or twice..... actually more than that. Well it finally happened! Alison and Justin were married on November 17th!! And I had the honor to be a part of their big day. I tried to document their wedding weekend, but was so busy with everything I didn't whip out my camera much. So for now you will have to settle with just some of my favorites I pulled from my camera. And when the photos from her photographer come in, I will definitely be sharing!!!!

The rehearsal dinner was at this beautiful plantation house right next to Lake Pontchartrain. It was a beautiful, intimate dinner. Ali rocked this incredible Vera Wang dress that had this massive bow on the shoulder. I love bows :) After the dinner, the bridal party and other close friends went to this awesome bar on the water. It's not your typical bar.... it's raised and has a tranquil, fancy cabin feel to it. Loved it! {That day we also went for manis and pedis! Such a treat!}
The morning of the wedding was so relaxing. Doesn't sound normal right? Well it definitely was the most laid back "wedding morning" I've ever witnessed.... It was actually the most laid back, smooth, wedding day I've witnessed!! The maid of honor {Katie, Ali's sister} hosted a beautiful brunch for us girls at their mom's house. It was incredible!! We took out all our dresses and hung them for display all day, and to get out the wrinkles of course. From there we went to the hair salon where the MOH treated us to mimosas, sushi and petite fours! Look how cute the champagne glass tags were!!

Before we knew it, it was time to get our dresses on. We had time to kill (crazy, right???) so we went to the lakefront with the photographer for some sunset pictures on the water. I can not wait to see the photographers pictures from this. They are going to be breathtaking!!

All the girls wore Alfred Sung dresses in duponi silk, color was majestic. But we all choose our own style! Loved it!

Weren't the bouquets gorgeous?? The purple couldn't have matched our dresses any better!
Check out the back of Kristen's dress... LOVE!!! Of course, it's a bow :)

And two of Ali's portraits.... stunning!!

The cakes!!!! First off, they were delicious!! Secondly, isn't the wedding cake gorgeous? And the groom's cake is phenomenal! Justin is an engineer and restores cars so it was absolutely perfect for him!

I was lucky enough to take a picture or two with the stunning bride ;)

And we have my favorite people!!! My brother {Mark}, sister-in-law and bestie {Kate}, the groom and childhood friend {Justin}, the bride and bestie {Alison} and my husband {Edward}.

There you have it!! Can't wait to share more details of the wedding once I get my hands on more pictures!!

PS- Wedding Wednesday link up party is next week so start working on your wedding post!!!
