Rolling In The Deep...

of my mind that is! This little lady has been quite the busy bee lately! I feel like I haven't been able to just sit down and have a good blogging session. You know, the kind where you just let it all out and anything goes? Yes I love hosting giveaways and promoting blogs / products, etc but I feel like that's all I've been doing lately when I actually have time to blog. And I never want my blog to loose that "Mary" feel. So here I am, uncensored.

Let's start with Thanksgiving. Mine was wonderful! And a much needed break. I hope yours was too! This year was a first for me.... as in not spending it with my family! I spent all of Thanksgiving Day with my in-laws and all their extended family that came in town. I love them all so much and we had a blast. But I'm not going to lie... I missed my mama! The last two years, Edward's family has been out of town for Thanksgiving so my family had us all to themselves. This year, we felt it was only fair to be with his side since they were hosting the holiday at their house with all the relatives. Growing up and in-laws and everything is bittersweet at times right? More sweet than bitter... but I just love my family! We have already decided to do Christmas Eve with his family and Christmas Day with mine. Both families were happy and so am I :)

Thanksgiving brings me to celebrating with my brother-in-law his engagement with his sweet fiance!  Alex is Edward's younger brother but they are only two years apart. I just still can't believe he's getting married! That "big sister" in me just can't accept it yet. On the other hand, I love his fiance! Christi was able to spend the weekend with us after Thanksgiving and we had lots of bonding time. They both live in Dallas so we don't get to see them often. I made a point to have some one on one "sister" time with Christi. The first we have had! LOVED it. Most of our time revolved around wedding planning. The date is set for December 28, 2013. We have arranged for me and my mother-in-law to fly to Dallas after Christmas this year to be with Christi to pick out her wedding dress. Very excited and honored to be there! Oh and some other exciting news, she asked me to be a bridesmaid!!! Yay!! This will be my 8th time as a bridesmaid and I couldn't be more thrilled. Seriously, obsessed with weddings.... hence "Wedding Wednesdays".... and my "wedding planner" dreams. (They will come true!)

My brother's engagement brings me to my marriage. Let's face it, I am madly, insanely in love with my husband. And Christmas time makes me that much more giddy. Of course it's a happy time but Christmas was when we first met and started dating. This Christmas marks 7 years of being together! {I'm trying to get my hands on a picture of two of us when we were "young and in love"... they aren't on my new computer but I'll find them and add them!}

Let's change subjects for a minute and just to the XFactor! Yes, I love that show. It's by far my favorite singing contest out there. Sure it has its issues... but what contest show doesn't? My overview of this season.... 1. LA Reid knows his stuff. 2. Britney makes the best faces ever. 3. Demi Lovato is a horrible coach. I hate what she did to Janelle Garcia and blame her for Janelle getting kicked off so early. 4. Simon is ruthless and honest and usually always right. As for my picks? Carly Rose Sonenclare is just phenomenal. I don't think anyone else compares to her vocally. I think that Tate Stevens has such a pure country voice. I think he will go far. And I'm going to be honest here... I am actually very entertained by Emblem 3. There, I said it. Although they seem like a bunch of little (pardon my french...) "douches", according my husband. Wait, let's rephrase that.... the tall, blonde that always has to take off his shirt. The other two get a pass in that department. And the final contestant I'm going to mention is Vino. (Why not anyone else, but I don't think anyone else has a chance at winning or being in the finale.) Oh Vino! So surprised at how much I like you! Not my typical music type but he has the goods. Except last night. It was not his best performance. However it was one of my favorite songs! Vino singing "Lost That Loving Feeling" put a smile on my face. Love that song. (Probably because I love Top Gun and my husband hates it. Which makes me want to sing it more.) **Side note:: At his uncle's wedding this summer, I may or may not have got down on one knee and  serenaded in front of his family to this song during the reception. Alcohol may or may not have been involved.** But back to the song.... Lost That Loving Feeling. Which actually brings me back to marriage AND...

LAW SCHOOL. Law school finals to be exact. They start on Monday and last for two weeks. The night of December 14th can't get here soon enough! Edward is so MIA during the end of the semester. And rightfully so. But I don't want to loose that lovin' feeling!! Especially during this time of year! How do you keep the sparks flying when the husband is so stressed with school?? Well I'll need your help ladies to come up with some ideas on how to keep it SPICY. Yes, I just said that. But we will save that for another post.

And last but not least... law school finals lead my to Christmas! My favorite time of year :) Edward said if he could have it his way, I would wait until after he finishes this semester before I decorate the house. Well I'm sorry dearest but you can't have it your way when it comes to this. He claims that is makes him depressed because he wants to enjoy the season but he's too busy studying. Well law school makes me depressed too and the Christmas season is what makes me happy! Especially decorating my house! I promised him I wouldn't go blaring the music so loud he could hear it behind closed doors. But I am definitely decorating now! And I am getting the tree this week. The tree is with out a doubt, my favorite Christmas tradition.

I need your opinion. I had gotten these shelves from Pottery Barn and I love them. However, Edward said my decorations are too busy and tacky.. do I just ignore him or do you agree? I think maybe he is more so talking about the pillow and the "Let It Snow" sign? (ps - Ignore the empty picture frames! I just got them in!)

I hope to have everything complete by this weekend and then I will share all my Christmas decorations with you! But please wish me luck as I paint this baby this weekend....
I'm going with Old Ochre by ASCP. Everything else in the room is that or ASCP's Old White. I think it's all going to come together really nicely. And once that is complete I can actually put all the Christmas decorations where they are supposed to go.

On that note, I think I've blabbered enough today.... Hope everyone has a good night and most importantly.... GEAUX SAINTS!!!! Beat those dirty birds in Atlanta!!!!

Hey now thanks for visiting me. I'm giving some love back :)
I don't think your decor is tacky at all...
But what do I know I have red sparkly glittery snowflakes hanging in my house :)
Maybe if you space things out your hubby might like it better... some in the kitchen like the Let it Snow {?}
I'm looking forward to future posts ;)

Your home looks precious!! Our DVR box thing is on the ground too - hate those things!!

I totally understand about switching up Holidays with families... My fiance and I are caught trying to spend time with EVERYONE we love.

You're such a sweet big sister to be so interested in your soon-to-be SIL! I can't wait to see my little brothers bring home girls.
Happy Thursday, Mary!

Okay so we both live in NOLA and have husbands in Law School and love blogging, event planning, and DIY... I'm thinking we're meant to be best friends. HA

Where does your husband go to school?? Mine is at Tulane and finishes up on the 14th of December as well... I TOTALLY feel you on the MIA thing... We have coffee together in the morning before I go to work and try to take 5-10 minutes at night just to catch up during finals... In other words, December 14th cannot get here FAST enough! Best of luck to him and let's hope we make it two more weeks! :)
